Why Deep Diving?
Some divers like going deep just for the adventure of it. There is something exciting about diving into the abyss, maybe it's the thrill of the unknown, maybe the element of danger.
Some divers dive deep for a specific purpose. Maybe there is a wreck at depth or a particular marine species inhabits deeper water.
What ever your reasons for diver deep it is imperative that you have the requisite skills to cope with the dangers of depth. The risks of running out of air, decompression illness and nitrogen narcosis are all higher when deep diving but with proper dive planning and execution diving deep can be safe.
Even if you are quite content diving in shallower water water it is still worth learning the skills used in deep diving.
The PADI Deep Diver specialty teaches deep diving up to 40 metres deep within no decompression diving limits. It is often the first step for divers with ambitions to go deeper still with technical decompression diving.
