PADI Open Water Diver CourseGroup or Private Course

There are some advantages to doing a private course

  • Less time in the classroom. Fewer students means fewer questions, fewer quiz mistakes an so on.
  • You get more time in the pool to practice each skill. Your instructor has to watch everyone complete each skill before he can move on to the next skill. With group courses you have to sit and watch while other students are practicing. With a private course you get to practice more yourself.
  • There is less peer pressure. With a private course you go at your pace. No one can slow you down and you can't slow anyone else down.
  • Longer dives. On group courses most of the dive is spent practicing the skills of all students. On private courses the skills are completed quickly, then you can enjoy the marine life. You only surface when your own air runs low, not when someone else's does.
  • Your instructor can focus on making you a better diver. With fewer students to watch over your instructor can dedicate himself to you.

PADI Open Water Diver CourseWhy PADI?

We are not here to shout the praises of PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) although we probably should. They changed diving for the better. Before PADI dive courses were long and strenuous with out dated teaching techniques taught by ex military instructors. PADI took advantage of reliable modern equipment and improved teaching methods to streamline dive courses and put a training structure in place that allowed anyone to learn to dive.

Now days you can do the PADI open water diver course in three days while on holiday. If you do the theory at home first you can be certified here in two days.

You can do similar courses with other dive training organisations such as Naui, BSAC, SSI and CMAS. Whichever certification you have it will be recognised worldwide. It doesn't really matter which you do, no matter what the vested interests from the different agencies say. Prices are about the same across agencies.

We promote PADI because they are the biggest and most well recognised training agency in the World. We are a commercial outfit and most of our customers want PADI courses so that's what we offer. We like PADI training materials which are thorough and easy to understand. They are also available in most languages. We also like PADI's online interface. If you lose your cert card you can go into any PADI dive centre and they can find your certification record on their online database.

Happy Diving!
